Configure Automatic Updates

Selecting the proper update schedule is important for keeping your Windows secure and operational. The following recommendations are optimal for use with Percepta applications, but may not meet your specific needs. Use at your discretion.

Windows 7

  • Click Start button, click All Programs, then click Update Windows
  • Click on Change settings
  • Use the drop down to select:
    • Check For Updates But Let Me Choose Whether to Download And Install Them
      (OR)
    • Automatic (Recommended), then use the drop down to select Every Monday
  • Click OK to save changes

Windows 8.1

  • Open Windows Update in Control Panel by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or, if you’re using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), entering Windows Update in the search box, tapping or clicking Settings, and then tapping or clicking Install optional updates
  • In the left pane, tap or click Change settings
  • Under Important Updates select:
    • Check For Updates But Let Me Choose Whether to Download And Install Them
      (OR)
    • Automatic (Recommended), then use the drop down to select Every Monday
  • Click OK
